Technical Administrator

Our client in the Southern Suburbs is seeking a Technical Administrator to play a key role in coordinating Requests for Quotations, managing Engineering Queries and preparing and controlling technical documentation.
 
You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of technical information across the company’s ERP, document management systems, and technical database.

POSITION INFO:
REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 supported by demonstrated administrative experience in a technical, engineering or manufacturing environment
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role ideally in the PCB/ electronics industry
• Familiarity with Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software would be advantageous
• Quantifiable skills in document control and revision management.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent written and spoken skills in English
• Proven customer service skills
• Advanced skills in MS Office suite
• Understanding of ERP systems

• Receive technical questions, identify the correct workflow, determine whether work relates to a new part, revision, repeat order, ECP, or factory transfer, and allocate work to the appropriate CAM Engineer
• Follow up on technical questions, provide supplier feedback, chase outstanding information, and escalate issues requiring engineering judgement
• Search existing records before creating new ones, create part/item numbers, maintain folders, organise technical files, and ensure correct naming and revision control
• Create Technical Data Sheets and stencil/paste files, ensure they are accurate and complete, obtain the required approvals, and maintain the technical database
• Maintain the EQ register, prepare and issue EQs, track responses and due dates, follow up with customers, and escalate overdue or technically complex queries.
• Control technical records: Keep historical records, factory allocations, revisions, technical databases, and documentation accurate, current, and properly filed.
• Maintain a central register of technical work, monitor deadlines, follow up on overdue items, identify bottlenecks, and provide workload updates to the Senior CAM Engineer
• Only close technical tasks once the required work has been completed, issued, and correctly filed
• Look for ways to improve processes, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and participate in business improvement projects
• Remain responsive and professional when dealing with customers, suppliers, and internal departments
