Role of the Automotive Red Seal Diesel Technician

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing predominantly light vehicles and 4x4s, while also assisting with mine-spec fitments, vehicle upgrades and various workshop projects.

This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is adaptable, practical and willing to get involved across all areas of the workshop.

Remuneration
Market related depending on experience, plus a performance-based incentive. Benefits may include provident fund, UIF.

POSITION INFO:
Duties include

• Service, maintain and repair light vehicles and 4x4s.
• Conduct vehicle diagnostics and fault finding.
• Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
• Work predominantly on Toyota Land Cruiser, Hilux, Prado and Fortuner, as well as Isuzu, Ford and similar vehicles.
• Complete mine-spec fitments and vehicle upgrade installations.
• Assist with various workshop and vehicle-related projects.
• Maintain accurate digital job cards and workshop records.
• Use workshop management systems and Android tablets for job card administration.
• Assist with stock control and general workshop housekeeping.
• Carry out quality checks and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Work collaboratively with the wider workshop team.
• Assist in other areas of the business when required.

• Red Seal Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Technician Trade Certificate – essential.
• Minimum 3 years' post-trade experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with light vehicles and 4x4s.
• Experience with Toyota LDVs, particularly Land Cruiser, Hilux, Prado and Fortuner, will be highly advantageous.
• Experience with Isuzu, Ford or similar vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
• Automotive electrical knowledge will be a major advantage.
• Experience with mine-spec fitments will be advantageous.
• Computer literate and comfortable using digital workshop systems.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Practical, adaptable and willing to assist across different workshop activities.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Reliable team player with good communication skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.
