POSITION INFO:
Are you an experienced Patient Liable Debtors Clerk with a strong understanding of medical billing, patient accounts and debt recovery?
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Patient Liable Debtors Clerk to manage patient-liable accounts, drive collections and ensure accurate administration of the debtors book within a busy healthcare environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and follow up on patient-liable accounts and aged debt.
• Work through the age analysis while actively driving daily collections.
• Contact patients via WhatsApp, email and SMS regarding outstanding accounts.
• Make and manage successful patient collection calls.
• Achieve a daily financial collection target of approximately R10,000.
• Investigate outstanding accounts and establish the reason for patient liability.
• Identify whether patients are legitimately liable due to medical scheme exclusions, co-payments, shortfalls or other relevant factors.
• Understand the general medical billing process, including claim submission and medical aid rejections.
• Review and reconcile patient accounts accurately.
• Assist with aged debt recovery.
• Maintain accurate records of all collection activity and patient communication.
• Work with accounts across a medical practice servicing approximately 13 doctors and multiple medical specialities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric / Grade 12 – non-negotiable.
• Minimum 2 years' experience specifically within Patient Liable Debtors / Medical Debtors.
• Previous experience within any healthcare environment is essential.
• Strong understanding of the medical billing and patient-liability process.
• Experience dealing with medical scheme rejections, co-payments, exclusions and patient shortfalls.
• Proven experience in debt collection and aged debt recovery.
• Strong communication and telephone collection skills.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
