SUMMARY:
Signa Opportunity is recruiting unemployed youth for quality workplace experience through the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative.

About the YES Initiative
The initiative was launched by the President in 2018 and is a partnership with the government and labour department to collectively devise a national plan to build economic pathways for South Africa’s youth by creating workplace opportunities for South African youth over a period of 12 months.

Position: Data Operations Intern

Stipend: R7400.00 pm

Location: Pretoria

POSITION INFO:
About the role
Support the data team to keep product, price and shop data clean and usable across the platform so ordering, analytics and automation work reliably.

Key Responsibilities

Clean, standardise and import supplier and wholesaler catalogues into Jinjer systems.
Map categories, brands, pack sizes and units using approved taxonomies.
Link and label product images, check image quality, flag gaps.
Track and update price changes, promotions and pack configuration differences.
Identify and merge duplicate SKUs, escalate conflicts for decision.
Prepare structured data sets for AI training, testing and reporting.
Maintain simple activity logs for reporting.

Success Measures, early performance period

At least 90 percent of assigned SKU lines loaded with correct category and image link.
Import error rate reduced by agreed target.
All data tasks logged and signed off within service window.

Learning and Exposure:
Data quality practice, FMCG ranges and pack logic, spreadsheet and basic data tools, introductory data scripting where capable.

Minimum Requirements

South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34.
Must not have participated on the programme before.
Matric plus post matric certificate
Diploma or degree or current study in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Statistics, Business Administration or similar. Confident in spreadsheets.

Advantageous
Experience with Excel formulas, Google Sheets, CSV imports, simple scripting, additional South African languages.

Other
Reports to Data Lead or delegated supervisor. Duties may change as business needs evolve. Training provided. We encourages applications from youth, women and township
communities.
