Credit Controller

POSITION INFO:
Our client is looking for a driven finance professional to take ownership of the debtors’ book and ensure healthy cash flow through efficient credit management and collections.

This role is based in Kempton Park.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for managing and maintaining the full debtors’ ledger
• Ensure outstanding invoices are collected within agreed credit terms
• Follow up on overdue balances through phone calls, emails, and formal correspondence
• Prepare and analyse age analysis reports and provide regular feedback to management on collection progress
• Allocate incoming payments accurately and reconcile customer accounts
• Review and evaluate new credit applications from customers
• Establish and monitor customer credit limits in line with company policies
• Perform credit checks and assess potential credit risk
• Escalate problematic accounts and recommend legal action or write-offs where required
• Perform regular reconciliations on customer accounts to ensure accuracy
• Investigate and resolve customer queries relating to invoices, payments, and account statements
• Work closely with the sales and operations teams to address billing disputes or discrepancies
• Compile monthly debtor reports, including collection forecasts and provisions for bad debts
• Ensure adherence to internal credit control policies and procedures
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements by preparing relevant documentation
• Support and oversee junior credit controllers within the team
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and assistance to the credit control team
• Contribute to the improvement of collection strategies, processes, and internal controls

• Diploma or Degree in Finance.
• Credit Management certificate is advantageous.
• 5 years proven experience in a credit control role
• Strong knowledge of debtor management and credit risk assessment
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
