An exciting opportunity is available for a Junior Bookkeeper to join a fast-paced Finance team, where you will take responsibility for maintaining accurate financial records across an allocated portfolio

POSITION INFO:
This role offers the opportunity to handle full-function bookkeeping through to Trial Balance, while working with Sage Evolution and gaining valuable exposure to cashbooks, reconciliations, VAT, stock accounting, payroll, creditors and financial reporting. The successful candidate will need to be highly accurate, analytical and comfortable working independently in a deadline-driven environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Manage full-function bookkeeping for an allocated portfolio to Trial Balance.
Compile, verify and process monthly journals and invoicing across multiple revenue streams.
Import bank statements and perform weekly bank reconciliations on Sage Evolution.
Process stock journals, call account entries, salary allocations, depreciation and service fee invoices.
Review and verify daily cash-ups, invoice matching and third-party delivery reconciliations.
Audit and approve Goods Received Vouchers (GRVs) before final ledger posting.
Prepare month-end financial packs and supporting schedules.
Analyse inventory, stock levels, physical counts, waste, losses, food costs and royalty reports.
Reconcile Input and Output VAT and prepare reports for review and SARS submission.
Reconcile monthly payroll information to the Sage Evolution general ledger.
Prepare year-end audit files and supporting schedules.
Perform supplier reconciliations

Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 / Matric
Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Financial Management.
2–4 years’ bookkeeping experience.
Proven experience taking books through to Trial Balance.
Multi-store, franchise or retail experience strongly advantageous.
Strong working knowledge of Sage Evolution.
Intermediate MS Excel and Google Sheets skills.
