Position: Sous Chef - Events
Bantry Bay, Cape Town

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef – Events to support the planning, preparation, and execution of all culinary aspects for events, conferences, and banquets at the hotel. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality food production, efficient kitchen operations, and exceptional guest experiences for all events.

Critical Criteria (Requirements)

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a Sous Chef role, preferably with a focus on events or banqueting in 4/5-star hotels or luxury resorts
• Proven experience in supervising kitchen teams and managing high-volume event operations
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and hygiene standards
• Culinary qualification or diploma advantageous
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
• Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
• South African citizen with a valid ID

Key Competencies

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef in planning and preparing menus for events and banquets
• Supervise kitchen operations during events, ensuring timely and high-quality food production
• Manage and coach junior kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to SOPs and culinary standards
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control across all events
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations
• Collaborate with Events and F&B teams to ensure smooth coordination and service flow
• Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and ordering of ingredients for events
• Support the continuous improvement of culinary techniques, workflows, and guest satisfaction
• Live and promote the hotel’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity

Package on Offer

• Basic salary (TBA)
