Snr Network Administrator

My client is looking for a senior‑level Network Administrator who thrives on solving complex infrastructure challenges.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys ownership, stability, and building resilient systems.

POSITION INFO:

My client operates a large, established IT environment supporting hundreds of internal users across multiple business units. The Senior Network Administrator will play a critical role in keeping core systems secure, reliable, and scalable.
 
This role sits at the heart of the IT function and offers real ownership, from designing and maintaining networks to ensuring business continuity across servers, cloud services, and security layers. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, not external clients, focusing on stability, optimization, and long‑term improvements.
 
Key responsibilities include:
 
Managing and maintaining enterprise networks (routing, switching, VPNs)
Administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and permissions
Supporting Microsoft 365 services (Exchange, Azure Active Directory)
Ensuring network security, backups, disaster recovery, and uptime
Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across servers and networks
Contributing to continuous improvement, documentation, and best practices
 
This is not a helpdesk role. It’s suited to someone who enjoys deep technical work, autonomy, and being the go‑to person for critical IT systems.
 
Skills & Experience:
Minimum 5+ years’ experience in IT administration / network administration
Strong hands‑on knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and routing protocols
Solid experience with Windows Server (Server 2022 or similar)
Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Azure AD)
Network security, backups, and recovery planning
Experience with hardware, software, and VOIP environments
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
Comfortable taking ownership and accountability in a senior role
 
Qualification:
Diploma in IT Systems Administration (NQF Level 4/5 or similar)
Relevant certifications such as A+, N+, Microsoft certifications, MCITP, or Network Security+
