Sales Representative - Hospitality & Food Industry

SUMMARY:

Salary: R15 000 Basic + Commission + Bonus

An established business supplying products to the hospitality, restaurant and food-service sectors is looking for an energetic and commercially driven Sales Representative to grow its customer base across Cape Town.

This is a hands-on external sales role suited to someone who enjoys being out in the market, developing relationships, prospecting for new business and identifying opportunities to increase sales.

Experience selling into the restaurant, hospitality, food-service, FMCG, beverage or liquor sectors would be highly advantageous.

POSITION INFO:
Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
• Prospect actively for new customers and business opportunities.
• Grow sales across restaurants, supermarkets, delicatessens, food-service businesses and distributors.
• Promote and sell a diverse range of food, beverage and catering-related products.
• Conduct cold calling and follow up on prospective customer leads.
• Identify customer requirements and recommend suitable products and solutions.
• Develop new accounts and increase sales within existing accounts.
• Conduct regular customer visits throughout Cape Town.
• Prepare and deliver customer presentations where required.
• Negotiate effectively and close sales opportunities.
• Monitor competitor activity, market developments and industry trends.
• Identify potential new products and sales opportunities.
• Provide management with feedback regarding customer requirements and market activity.
• Coordinate customer requirements with internal departments.
• Work towards and achieve agreed monthly sales targets.
• Support marketing and promotional initiatives when required.

• Proven sales experience, preferably in an external sales environment.
• Experience within the hospitality, restaurant, food-service, FMCG, beverage, wine or liquor industries would be highly advantageous.
• Previous experience selling to restaurants, supermarkets, delicatessens, food suppliers or distributors would be beneficial.
• Strong new business development and prospecting ability.
• Confident cold-calling skills.
• Excellent customer relationship management abilities.
• Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Commercially minded and target driven.
• Proactive, energetic and self-motivated.
• Good MS Office skills.
• Ability to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Professional and customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Own reliable vehicle essential.
• Willing and able to travel throughout Cape Town to visit customers.

• Monday to Friday: 07:45 – 16:45
• Every second Saturday: 08:30 – 12:30

• Basic Salary: R15 000 per month
• Commission: 3% once monthly sales exceed R200 000
• Business Mileage: Reimbursed for approved business kilometres travelled
• Bonus: Discretionary performance bonus
