Reservations & Inventory Assistant

Support FIT reservations and inventory management, maintaining accurate availability and booking information across client and in-house reservation systems.

Remote (South Africa) | Remote | 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday 09:30–18:00 UK time | R14,400–R15,500 per month

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client operates within the travel sector, processing FIT reservations and managing availability and inventory.

The business uses client extranets and an in-house allocation system to maintain availability information and process reservations, cancellations, and amendments.

THE ROLE: RESERVATIONS & INVENTORY ASSISTANT

The Reservations & Inventory Assistant will work as part of the availability desk while supporting the FIT team.

The role involves keeping client extranets updated with availability, managing the in-house allocation system, processing FIT bookings and maintaining accurate client data files. The role may also provide assistance to the accounts department with late payments when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Keep client extranets updated with availability.
• Manage the in-house allocation system.
• Work as part of the availability desk and support the FIT team.
• Enter FIT bookings into reservation systems.
• Process booking cancellations and amendments.
• Manage and maintain information accurately within client data files.
• Assist the accounts department in pursuing late payments when necessary.
• Demonstrate flexibility and undertake reasonable tasks requested by the company.
• Cover approximately two hours on Saturday and Sunday, at most once every three weeks.
• Manage the emergency phone for an entire week, at most once every three weeks.

ABOUT YOU

• Basic experience in travel reservations with a hotel group or tour operator is preferable.
• Advanced spoken and written English.
• Italian, French or Spanish would be advantageous but is not required.
• Understanding of allocation and Freesale concepts is preferable.
• Previous experience making hotel reservations is preferable but not necessary.
• Computer literate with experience using a PC and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Good telephone manner and liaison skills.
• Self-motivated and dedicated, with the ability to communicate across departments and keep team interests at the core.
• Extremely motivated with a proactive approach to work.
• Ability to anticipate issues and resolve them.
• Good understanding of percentages and gross versus net rates.
