Junior Network Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Network & Infrastructure Support

• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewall, and network infrastructure environments.
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
• Manage firewall rules, security policies, VPN configurations, and network access controls.
• Ensure optimal performance, stability, and availability of network services and infrastructure.
• Perform network optimization and system hardening activities to improve performance and security.
• Maintain backups and disaster recovery processes for systems under your control.

Security & Compliance

• Support cybersecurity initiatives and ensure adherence to security best practices.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and participate in security testing activities.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and network threats.
• Ensure compliance with IT governance, security frameworks, and organizational policies.
• Maintain client confidentiality and ensure sensitive information is managed securely.

Service Delivery & Client Support

• Provide technical support and troubleshoot network-related issues within agreed service levels.
• Ensure compliance with SLA response and resolution targets.
• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, suppliers, and service providers.
• Escalate issues appropriately and contribute to effective incident and problem management.
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.

Documentation & Reporting

• Create and maintain detailed network, server, and infrastructure documentation.
• Develop and update network diagrams and technical documentation.
• Generate reports relating to network performance, security incidents, assets, bandwidth utilization, and system availability.
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, changes, and problem management activities.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and service delivery.
• Participate in infrastructure enhancement projects and strategic initiatives.
• Stay current with emerging networking, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure technologies.
• Commit to ongoing professional development and certification opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• CompTIA Network+ certification (required).
• Relevant IT qualification in Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a networking or infrastructure support role.
• Experience supporting enterprise network environments.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
• MikroTik certification or extensive practical experience with MikroTik routers.
• Solid understanding of LAN, WAN, routing, switching, and Wi-Fi technologies.
• Hands-on experience with firewall administration and network security.
• Knowledge of VPN technologies and remote connectivity solutions.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, standards, and best practices.
• Working knowledge of ITIL principles and IT Service Management practices.
• Familiarity with NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
• Experience with network monitoring, endpoint protection, and infrastructure management tools.
• Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration, including Teams and related services.
