SUMMARY:
Junior Floor Manager - George

A well-established, upmarket family restaurant based in the heart of George, is on a recruitment drive for a dynamic, driven and motivated restaurant floor manager, to join their fast-growing team.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assist the Floor Manager with the daily operations of the restaurant/floor.
• Ensure excellent customer service and maintain high hospitality standards.
• Welcome and assist guests, ensuring they have a positive dining experience.
• Supervise waiters, runners, hosts, and other floor staff during service.
• Allocate sections and duties to staff according to operational requirements.
• Monitor staff performance, punctuality, grooming, and professional conduct.
• Assist with staff briefings before each shift and communicate daily service expectations.
• Monitor table service, food delivery, beverage service, and overall guest satisfaction.
• Handle guest queries, complaints, and service issues professionally and promptly.
• Coordinate effectively with the kitchen, bar, host team, and management to ensure smooth service.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including checking that the floor is clean, organised, and properly prepared.
• Monitor stock levels of service items such as cutlery, crockery, glassware, napkins, and other floor supplies.
• Ensure that restaurant hygiene, cleanliness, and health and safety standards are maintained.
• Assist with cash-up procedures, bill queries, and payment-related issues when required.
• Monitor table turnover and assist with efficient seating and reservation management.
• Support the Floor Manager in maintaining service standards during busy periods.
• Train and coach junior staff on service procedures, customer care, and restaurant standards.
• Report staff, operational, maintenance, or customer-related issues to the Floor Manager or management.
• Assist with maintaining a positive and professional team environment.
• Complete any additional operational duties delegated by the Floor Manager or General Manager

POSITION INFO:
Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
• Relevant experience in a restaurant, food & beverage, or hospitality environment.
• Previous supervisory or team-lead experience would be advantageous.
• Basic computer literacy, including POS systems, email and Microsoft Office.
• Food safety and hygiene training would be advantageous.

• Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Operations, Food Service, or a related field.
• A relevant NQF qualification at approximately NQF Level 4–6, depending on the qualification and experience. South African hospitality qualifications specifically identify food-and-beverage supervisory and junior-management roles as career outcomes.
• Additional training in HACCP, occupational health and safety, customer service, liquor/service compliance, and supervisory skills would strengthen the profile.
