Have you come across document control in your working career and discovered that it is something you enjoy and are good at?
Document control is often a career that people discover through practical workplace experience rather than through a specific field of study. You may have started in administration, project support, engineering support, construction or another technical environment and found yourself working with drawings, document registers, revisions, transmittals or electronic filing systems.
If you enjoyed the structure, accuracy and responsibility involved and would like to develop these skills into a career, this could be an excellent opportunity.
Our client is looking for a Junior Document Controller to join a professional engineering environment supporting multidisciplinary projects across the mining, petrochemical, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
You will work alongside experienced engineering and project professionals while developing your knowledge of formal document control processes and systems within an EPCM environment.

POSITION INFO:

What Will You Be Doing?

Receive, register, issue and distribute engineering and project documentation
Maintain accurate document and drawing registers
Assist with drawing and document revision control
Prepare and process document transmittals
Upload, file and retrieve documentation using electronic document management systems
Assist with vendor and supplier documentation
Follow up on outstanding documents and information
Help maintain accurate and organised project records
Assist with as-built, handover and project close-out documentation
Provide document control and administrative support to engineering and project teams

What Are We Looking For?

You do not need to have formally studied Document Control. We are more interested in someone who has gained some exposure to the function in the workplace and would now like to develop further in this field.
Ideally, you will have:

Approximately 1–3 years’ general working experience, with some exposure to document control, project administration, technical administration or engineering administration
An understanding of the importance of document numbering, filing, revision control and accurate record keeping
Exposure to documents such as drawings, registers, transmittals, technical documentation or project correspondence
Good Microsoft Office skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and administrative ability
The discipline to follow established procedures and systems
A willingness to learn and develop within a structured engineering project environment

Exposure That Would Be Advantageous

Any previous experience with the following would be beneficial, but you are not expected to know everything from day one:

Aconex, SharePoint, SAP DMS or another electronic document management system
Engineering drawings and technical documentation
Document registers and transmittals
Engineering, EPCM, construction, mining or industrial projects
ISO 9001 or formal quality/document control procedures
