Job Purpose

The school is seeking a dedicated and experienced Afrikaans First Language Teacher to teach Grades 10–12. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, preparing learners for internal assessments and NSC examinations, and ensuring academic excellence in line with CAPS requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Afrikaans First Language to Grades 10, 11 and 12

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in line with the CAPS curriculum

Set, mark and moderate tests, assignments and examinations

Mark internal assessments and examination scripts accurately and timeously

Prepare learners for NSC examinations and monitor academic progress

Maintain accurate learner records, reports and assessment schedules

Attend staff meetings, subject meetings and parent-teacher engagements

Contribute positively to the academic culture and ethos of the school

Minimum Requirements

Recognised teaching qualification (BEd or PGCE)

Afrikaans First Language proficiency (spoken and written)

Minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience at high school level

Proven experience teaching Grades 10 to 12

Sound knowledge of CAPS curriculum and assessment requirements

Experience with marking exams and formal assessments

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Strong organisational and time-management skills

Commitment to learner development and academic excellence

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
