SUMMARY:
To render financial support services within the department.

POSITION INFO:
JOB DESCRIPTION

Petty Cash processing

Receive Petty Cash requests from clients and check for correctness.
Record requests in the register.
Ensure end users completed BAS Petty Cash Advice withing the petty cash threshold and signed by relevant managers.
Issue Petty cash to the clients

Petty Cash reconciliation and replenishment

Receive Petty cash reconciliations from the client within 3 working days of requests.
Ensure End users complete BAS Petty Return form, valid invoice/ receipts and signed off.
Replenishment of the petty cash and ensure availability of cash in the safe.
Receive cash collected from the bank and check for correctness

Capturing of payments

Capture miscellaneous payments on BAS system.
Capture payments within 3 working days from the date of receipt
Receive printed payment stubs and send to the payee.

Perform bookkeeping support services

Processing of General Journals in respect of Clearing of the suspense accounts and corrections.
Processing of General Journals in respect of clearing the Bank Adjustment Account

Administration of bursary debt

Calculation and capturing of bursary debt based on the date of the breach of contract.
Processing of monthly payments
Ensure finalising of documents for filing of all BAS and LOGIS payment documents.
Receive, issue receipts and deposit departmental income
Draft standard letters, memos, submissions etc

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
An NQF level 6 or NQF level 7 in a relevant field.

Knowledge

Knowledge and understanding of BAS and Safety Web
General Recognised Accounting Practice and a theoretical knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Practice
Banking account configurations of Departments.
General Financial Administration
Internal Control.
