JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main purpose of the job:

  • To manage the inventory of source documents by tracking data entry, ensuring date entry deadlines are met, and assuring quality data is maintained

Location:

  • Wits RHI Research Centre Clinical Research Site – 7 Esselen Street, Hillbrow (3rd to 5th Floor) - Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

  • Identifying Data entry records using source documents and registers
  • Compile weekly data collection together with data capturer
  • Monitoring of all registers/where indicated before capturing
  • Keep a tracking log of identified errors
  • Identify error resolution with Data Capturer before data entry
  • Ensure correction of quality checked data
  • Training and instructing new counselors on data entry forms
  • Instructing counselors on data collection and reporting
  • Assisting counselors and/or data capturers with data entry questions and error resolution prior to data reporting
  • Administration of source documents (SD) e.g. compiling
  • Capturing, maintaining, and updating source documents together with the data capturer
  • Setting up of data compilation tools e.g. checklists
  • Assisting in the sourcing of HIV/TB registers and stationery for data entry within the hospital
  • Work together with QI teams to identify and ensure QIPs are acceptable to stakeholders
  • Write up and verify data for QIPs as needed by the program advisor/manager
  • Identifying errors and inconsistencies
  • Assisting manager with the resolution of errors and inconsistencies
  • Assisting manager in the management of project-related reports
  • Complete tasks delegated by the data manager
  • Training of data capturers or other team members, including counselors, as assigned by the manager
  • Data entry for the project when indicated by the supervisor using provided data entry systems in concordance with entry guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with the data management team
  • Provide Effective and efficient telephonic and e-mail communication
  • Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management.
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
  • Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
  • Take ownership of driving your own career development by participating in ongoing training and development activities

Required minimum education and training:

  • Grade 12

Required minimum work experience:

  • 2 years of experience as a Data Capturer in a clinical research environment
  • Good working knowledge of TB and HIV
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

  • Working knowledge of data entry systems (Access, Tier.net, DHIS)
  • GCP trained
