SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced Buyer – Long Products to manage purchasing activities, supplier coordination, RFQs and stock requirements in a fast-paced steel environment.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

Analyse forecasts, actual consumption and stock levels to support buying decisions.
Manage purchase orders, mill confirmations and deliveries.
Conduct RFQs and support automotive import requirements.
Liaise daily with suppliers and internal stakeholders to manage priorities and expedite requirements.
Monitor mill performance, quality issues, claims, credits and rebates.
Manage stock levels, identify slow-moving/overstocked items and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare purchasing, forecasting, stock and management reports.
Monitor pricing and identify potential anomalies.
Assist with alternative sourcing and mill enquiries.
Support supplier quality claims and ensure rejected material is replaced where required.
Identify opportunities to improve and optimise purchasing processes.
Work closely with Commercial and Supply Chain teams to manage overstock and shortages.
Ensure purchasing processes, systems and work instructions are followed

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Business Administration or related field.
Approximately 5 years steel buying experience.
SAP experience – essential.
Advanced Excel skills – essential.
Inventory management experience advantageous.
Strong analytical and numerical ability.
Excellent negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
Ability to make sound buying decisions based on data and analysis.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple product ranges.
Able to engage and negotiate confidently with suppliers, internal stakeholders and senior management.
