SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and organised Buyer to join a well-established company operating within the engineering sector, based in Jet Park, Boksburg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the procurement function through effective sourcing, purchasing, supplier management and order coordination. The role requires someone who is commercially aware, detail-oriented and able to build strong relationships with suppliers while ensuring that goods and services are procured at the right quality, price and time.
Previous purchasing or procurement experience within the engineering, manufacturing, industrial or related technical sector will be highly advantageous.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure materials, components, equipment and services required by the business.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations based on price, quality, specifications and lead times.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Create, process and manage purchase orders accurately and timeously.
• Follow up on outstanding orders and ensure materials and components are delivered within required timelines.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding availability, technical requirements, pricing and delivery.
• Work closely with engineering, technical, stores and other internal departments to understand purchasing requirements.
• Source alternative suppliers and products where required.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance, pricing and lead times.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or technical requirements.
• Resolve supplier, delivery, pricing and quality-related queries.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and order records.
• Assist with stock planning and ensure critical materials and components are available when required.
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with internal procurement procedures and company requirements.
• Assist with procurement reporting and general purchasing administration.

• Matric is essential
• Qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics, Business Management or a related field will be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a Buyer, Procurement or Purchasing position.
• Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial or technical environment will be highly advantageous.
• Experience sourcing engineering components, technical products, equipment or industrial materials will be advantageous.
• Strong supplier sourcing and negotiation skills.
• Good understanding of procurement and purchasing processes.
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience using an ERP, procurement or purchasing system will be advantageous.
• Ability to understand technical specifications, part numbers and purchasing requirements will be beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
• Valid South African driver's licence is essential.
• Own reliable vehicle is essential.
• Candidates should preferably reside in Boksburg, Benoni or the surrounding East Rand area.
