Our client, in George, is expanding beyond its established agent network into direct retail distribution for its new range of agricultural chemicals and building a stronger digital presence across both divisions. This role is created to drive that growth.

POSITION INFO:
Description:

Business Development & Digital Growth Assistant – a single hire covering commercial sales outreach and full social media management for our primary client, with secondary support dedicated to a partner firm's social media presence and client lead generation as time allows, once the primary company's priorities are fully met.

Requirements:

A. Retail Sales & Business Development (Primary focus)

Research and build a target list of nurseries, garden centres, farm shops, and independent hardware retailers, starting in the George/Garden Route region
Make outbound cold calls to introduce the new range of chemicals
Send follow-up emails after every call, with product specs and safety data sheet attached
Maintain a lead tracker - every contact's status, last touchpoint, and next action date
Coordinate and help close small retail stockist agreements
Follow up on existing retail accounts to prevent churn and check reorder needs

B. Social Media Management (Full ownership)

Manage all platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok where relevant
Create and maintain a monthly content calendar (product features, usage tips, farmer testimonials, behind the-scenes)
Respond to comments, messages, and product enquiries across all platforms
Track basic engagement metrics (followers, reach, enquiries generated) and report monthly

C. Social Media & Client Leads (Secondary support)

Manage social media platforms - content, scheduling, posting
Identify and follow up with potential new accounting clients
Support basic client communication and enquiry follow-up
Primary company's responsibilities always take priority if time is limited

D. AI Usage (Both businesses)

Use AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Canva AI) to draft social captions, outreach emails, and call scripts faster
Continually self-educate on new AI tools relevant to marketing and sales
Bring monthly suggestions on where AI could save time or improve results for either business
