Bookkeeper / Accounts Clerk

Overview

With a successful 30+ year track record, our client is a small business based in Kew (Johannesburg). They offer specialised hiring equipment and services to the civil, construction and mining industries.

They’re looking for an experienced and mature Bookkeeper / Accounts Clerk to manage their end-to-end accounting and payroll functions. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on, multitasking position. It is a permanent, full-time, in-office role.

Immediately available applications are preferred.

Purpose of Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for full accounting functions including debtors, creditors, payroll, VAT and general administrative tasks. Key to this role is being comfortable with managing a book value of R3 million with approximately 25 employees on the payroll.

Duties

full debtors and creditors function
capturing transactions and reconciliations on Sage Evolution
preparing and processing monthly pay run
processing payroll for +/-25 employees via PaySpace
maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
general accounting and administrative support

Skills

Proficient in Sage Evolution / Pastel Evolution
Payroll experience (on PaySpace would be a bonus)
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Confident managing both debtors and creditors
Mature, responsible and able to work independently
Attention to detail
Organised
Team-player
Forward-thinking

Qualifications

Education = Matric Certificate (minimum)

Experience = 5+ years in a finance and/or accounting role (minimum)

Package

R20-24k CTC depending on skill and experience
