SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of practical bookkeeping experience and a strong understanding of accounting principles. This role requires someone who can manage the full bookkeeping function, ensure accurate financial records, and support the finance team in maintaining compliance and efficiency.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities

Perform full bookkeeping function up to trial balance
Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts
Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable
Capture and process supplier invoices and customer billing
Perform monthly bank, credit card, and supplier reconciliations
Prepare and process journals including accruals and provisions
Manage petty cash and expense claims
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
Prepare VAT reconciliations and assist with statutory submissions where required
Maintain fixed asset registers
Assist with financial reporting and management accounts
Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures
Liaise with auditors, suppliers, and internal departments where necessary

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (or similar qualification)
3–5 years’ proven bookkeeping experience
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Pastel, QuickBooks, or similar)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

Experience in full bookkeeping up to trial balance
Knowledge of South African VAT regulations
Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
