Litigation Secretary – Banking Litigation

POSITION INFO:

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to attorneys within the litigation department.
• Manage and maintain litigation files, ensuring all documentation is accurately filed and up to date.
• Draft, format, prepare and proofread legal correspondence, pleadings, notices, affidavits and other litigation-related documentation.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of court documents and ensure compliance with relevant procedural requirements and deadlines.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, advocates, sheriffs, courts and other relevant parties as required.
• Manage attorney diaries, appointments, meetings and court-related schedules.
• Monitor litigation deadlines, court dates and key dates, ensuring attorneys are alerted timeously.
• Assist with the preparation of court bundles, trial documentation and other materials required for litigation matters.
• Handle electronic and physical filing systems and maintain accurate records.
• Conduct basic administrative follow-ups relating to litigation matters.
• Assist with billing, invoicing and time-recording processes where required.
• Provide general administrative support to the litigation team.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive client and legal information.
• Support attorneys with a portfolio of general litigation matters, with particular exposure to banking litigation.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Litigation Secretary.
• Proven experience within a legal environment, preferably supporting attorneys in general litigation.
• Banking litigation experience or exposure will be highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of litigation procedures, terminology and documentation.
• Familiarity with court processes, filing requirements and legal deadlines.
• Excellent typing, formatting and document preparation skills.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional and confident communication with clients, attorneys, counsel and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a legal team.
• High level of discretion and confidentiality.
