Assistant Warehouse Manager

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking an Assistant Warehouse Manager to oversee daily warehouse operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining a safe and productive environment. This role supports the Warehouse Manager in managing staff, inventory accuracy, and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) in high-volume distribution settings.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities: 

• Assist in planning and executing daily warehouse activities
• Manage inbound receiving, storage, and outbound dispatch
• Oversee workflow processes including bin management, unit picking, and processing
• Supervise, train, and mentor warehouse staff
• Allocate tasks effectively and monitor performance
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures and company policies
• Maintain high levels of stock accuracy
• Conduct cycle counts and physical stock audits
• Reconcile inventory within the WMS system
• Enforce Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards
• Ensure all warehouse equipment is properly maintained
• Promote a safe and compliant working environment
• Identify inefficiencies and operational bottlenecks
• Implement process improvements and standardisation initiatives
• Generate reports on warehouse performance and productivity
• Track stock discrepancies and operational metrics
• Provide feedback and insights to management

• Grade 12 (Matric) is essential
• Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations (preferred)
• 3–5 years’ experience in a warehouse or logistics leadership role
• Experience in distribution or FMCG environments advantageous
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems (Syspro or similar)
• Valid forklift license (advantageous)
• Valid driver’s license
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
