Assistant Accountant

SUMMARY:
This function has a mixture of debtors invoicing for services, creditors invoice processing and reconciliations and support to the Financial Manager of the Division. Essential to have accounting experience, basic knowledge of accounting and reconciliations.

POSITION INFO:

KPA’s

1. 1.       Debtors function    

• Weekly invoicing for logistics services in ZAR and USD
• Weekly capturing of receipts
• Weekly management of outstanding debtors
• Monthly invoices for shareholder transport volumes
• Monthly invoicing in Pastel

1. 2.       Creditors function (support)             

• Receive and verify correctness of rates/charges as per contract with service providers.
• Receive and code invoices
• Register batches for processing.
• Input of invoices into QX system.

1. 3.       Weekly payments  

• Checking all payments for correctness and accuracy (ZAR & USD)

1. 4.       Monthly payments

• Checking all payments for correctness and accuracy
• Recons to be checked, including all new transporters

1. 5.       Management accounts        

• Monthly assisting in management accounts

1. 6.       Audit & yearly reconciliations          

• Assisting in yearly recons and auditor’s requirements

1. 7.       Systems      

• Process enhancements/Automation
