Cape Town - Hybrid 3 days in office. Monday - Friday 9 am - 5:30 pm UK Time.

Salary: R40,000 - R50,000 p/m

The Role: Accounts Payable Manager

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end accounts payable function, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant processing of supplier invoices and payments. The role leads the AP team, manages vendor relationships, enforces controls, and drives continuous improvement across processes, systems and KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, coding, approval, posting and payment.

• Manage, coach and develop the accounts payable team, including workload allocation and performance reviews.

• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and financial policies.

• Act as the senior point of contact for key suppliers to resolve high-risk or aged issues.

• Own AP metrics including invoice processing timeliness, aged payables, query resolution times, and PO vs. non-PO invoice ratios.

• Act as AP process owner for finance systems, including SAP 4 HANA and SAP Concur, to drive process improvements and automation.

About You

• Proven experience managing an Accounts Payable function in a medium sized organisation.

• Previous people management experience.

• Strong understanding of AP controls, payment processes and supplier management.

• Experience working with SAP, preferably SAP 4 HANA and SAP Concur.

• Strong Excel and reporting skills.

• Comfortable working to deadlines in a reasonable volume environment.

• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.

• Confident, pragmatic and able to challenge constructively.

• Strong communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders at different levels.

• Continuous improvement mindset.

• Experience in a shared service or multi-entity environment.

• Exposure to international suppliers and multicurrency payments.

• Experience with invoice automation or P2P transformation.

• Part-qualified AAT, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
