ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

SUMMARY:
Urgently seeking a qualified Accountant for our Boksburg branch to oversee finance, HR, Payroll, Taxation, BEE, Legal documents, Debtors, Cashflow, Banking for various small, medium and large businesses.

POSITION INFO:

Seeking a hands-on Assistant Accountant who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This is not a traditional accounting role—it’s for someone who’s not afraid to get their hands dirty, roll up their sleeves, and take ownership across multiple businesses and business functions. You must have a sharp eye for detail, be excellent at correcting messy trial balances, and bring structure to disorganized financial environments.

Qualifications & Skills: 

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting/Finance or similar

• Newly qualified CIMA/almost qualified.

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Willing to take initiative and “do it all” when needed

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Finance 

• Assist in the preparation and correction of trial balances

• Perform reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger reviews

• Support month-end and year-end processes

• Liaise with auditors when necessary

• Maintain proper documentation and support for all financial transactions

 Payroll & HR Support

 • Process payroll accurately and on time

• Maintain employee records

• Support HR with admin tasks like leave tracking and contract preparation

Administrative Support

• Type and format contracts and other legal documents

• Book and manage travel and accommodation logistics

• Handle office correspondence and communication, including answering calls

 External Relationship Management

• Build and manage relationships with banks and service providers

Data Analysis & Excel Work

• Analyze and interpret financial codes and project costs

• Produce custom Excel reports for management

• Maintain and improve internal spreadsheets and models
