Trade Tested Millwright

SUMMARY:
A reputable company within the Agricultural industry is looking to employ a Millwright, to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems across our production and processing facilities. This role supports the commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Execute planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance on processing, packaging, conveyor, and ancillary plant machinery. Conduct fault-finding and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation systems.
• Interpret and work from technical schematics, mechanical / electrical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM manuals. 
• Manage installation, alignment, and commissioning of equipment and machinery; ensure accurate alignment of motors, gearboxes, conveyors, and more.
• Administer documentation via job cards, CMMS, SAP, including maintenance logs, breakdown reports, requisitions, and safety forms.  
• Conduct root cause failure analyses, recommend improvements, and support refurbishment projects. 
• Train and mentor operators and production staff on equipment care and routine maintenance checks. 
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act, safety regulations, food quality standards (GMP, HACCP), and company internal policies. 
• Possibly participate in standby or rotational call-out schedules for urgent breakdown support.

Qualifications & Experience

• Matric / Grade 12 (N3 or higher) plus Trade Test (Red Seal/Millwright) certification. 
• 5+ years’ post-apprenticeship experience, preferably within FMCG, food production, or related manufacturing environments. 
• Strong electrical and mechanical expertise, including PLCs, VSDs, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation

• Proficient in fault-finding, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance planning.
• Familiar with SAP (or CMMS) for maintenance tracking and inventory control. 
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and training capabilities. 
• Proven problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills. 
• Safety-oriented, with strong OHS Act, food safety, and quality management awareness.
