SUMMARY:
The Stock Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all stock and inventory within the lodge to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This includes monitoring food, beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, and operational stock levels while maintaining accurate records, minimizing wastage, and ensuring cost control. The Stock Controller plays a vital role in supporting all departments by ensuring stock is available, properly stored, and efficiently managed.
Key Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and verify all incoming stock deliveries against invoices and purchase orders
Capture and record all stock movements accurately on the stock management system
Monitor stock levels for food, beverages, housekeeping supplies, maintenance materials, and guest amenities
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts
Reconcile stock variances and report discrepancies to management
Ensure proper storage, labelling, and stock rotation (FIFO) to reduce waste and spoilage
Issue stock to relevant departments as required and maintain accurate issuing records
Monitor stock usage and identify areas of excessive consumption or loss
Assist in controlling food and beverage costs through accurate stock tracking
Work closely with the chef, lodge manager, housekeeping, and maintenance teams to ensure stock availability
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards in storage areas
Maintain neat, organized, and secure storerooms
Assist with month-end stock takes, reporting, and audits
Identify slow-moving, damaged, or expired stock and report accordingly
Support procurement by advising on reorder levels and stock requirements

POSITION INFO:
Qualifications

Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
Certificate or Diploma in Stock Control, Inventory Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field (advantageous)

Experience

Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in stock control, preferably within hospitality or lodge operations
Experience with food and beverage stock control is highly advantageous
Experience working with stock control systems and inventory software

Skills & Competencies

Strong numerical and reconciliation skills
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Good understanding of stock rotation and inventory control procedures
Knowledge of hospitality stock categories (food, beverages, housekeeping, maintenance)
Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Excel and stock management systems
Strong organizational and planning skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Honest, reliable, and trustworthy
