Role description: Shift manager, reporting to factory manager

Breeding farm in Epping is seeking to employ a day shift manager to join their production team.

The facility runs 24/7. 7 days a week. This is a day shift role, that will include two weekends per month. Time in lieu will be given

Areas of responsibility

• Check that operators follow standard operating procedures for internal biology operations
• Ensure production data are recorded correctly
• Promote and enforce health and safety procedures
• Report process deviations (i.e. SOP non-conformances, equipment malfunctions)
• Liaise with other shift leaders to synchronize daily activities
• Regular inspection of operations in all functional areas
• Ensure highest level of factory hygiene: work area and equipment are clean
• Scheduling of staff in cooperation with other shift manager
• Perform daily attendance and address disciplinary issues related to time and attendance, insubordination etc.
• Create and complete checklists
• Coordinate customer-shipments between production and shipment assistant
• Maintain stock and inventory
• Write short reports and graph short-term production data on Microsoft Excel.

Education and experience

• Minimum matric with a tertiary qualification in either a technical discipline or supervisory management course completed
• At least 3 years’ experience in a production environment in a supervisory capacity.
• Background in biology - understanding of natural science
• Read and write proficiency in English and at least one other official South African language.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
• Beneficial: Experience working in an ISO/FSSC and HACCP certified environment
