Senior Civil Engineer

SUMMARY:
A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its civil infrastructure team in Pietermaritzburg.

The position is suited to a Civil Engineer or Civil Engineering Technologist with strong design experience in the built environment, particularly across roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater, water and sewer infrastructure.

The successful candidate will contribute to infrastructure projects across South Africa and elsewhere in Africa, working as part of a collaborative multi-office engineering team.

POSITION INFO:
You will be responsible for the technical design and documentation of civil infrastructure projects and will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from ECSA Stage 1 through Stage 6.

The role requires sound civil engineering design capability, strong AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency and a good understanding of applicable design codes and construction specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake detailed civil engineering design for infrastructure and built-environment projects.
• Design roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater systems, water networks and sewer networks.
• Prepare engineering drawings and associated technical documentation.
• Carry out design and drafting work in accordance with internal quality management procedures and approval processes.
• Take responsibility for technical aspects of assigned projects across ECSA Stages 1–6.
• Apply relevant engineering design codes, standards and construction specifications.
• Coordinate technical inputs within a multidisciplinary and multi-office project environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Approximately 6 years or more relevant civil engineering design experience.
• Demonstrated detailed design experience in:
  • Roads
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Piped networks
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Good knowledge of current civil engineering design codes and construction specifications.
• ECSA: Professionally registered or nearing registration. 
• Valid driver's licence.
• Own reliable vehicle
• Working knowledge of the Infrastructure Design Automation Suite (iDAS) - advantageous.
