Civil Engineer

SUMMARY:
A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking for a qualified Civil Engineer to join its growing civil infrastructure team in Umhlanga, Durban.

The role will suit an engineer with approximately 6 or more years’ civil infrastructure design experience within the built environment, particularly involving roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater, water and sewer infrastructure.

You will work on infrastructure projects across South Africa and elsewhere in Africa, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices.

Role Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake detailed civil engineering design and drafting.
• Prepare designs for roads, bulk earthworks and piped infrastructure networks.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant technical standards, design codes and internal quality-management procedures.
• Take responsibility for the technical aspects of allocated project work.
• Participate in client liaison and project coordination.
• Attend project and site meetings as required.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-office project teams.

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Approximately 6 or more years of relevant civil engineering design experience.
• Demonstrated experience in the detailed design of:
  • Roads
  • Bulk earthworks
  • Stormwater infrastructure
  • Water networks
  • Sewer networks
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with current civil engineering design codes and construction series specifications.
• Must be progressing towards professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng or PrTech Eng.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle

• Working knowledge of the Infrastructure Design Automation Suite (iDAS) - advantageous.
