Sales Representative

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a motivated, results-driven External Sales Representative to join their team in the East London/KuGompo City region. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, expanding market share, and building strong, long-term relationships with retail and wholesale customers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a target-driven environment and enjoys developing new business while maintaining existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow an existing customer base across retail key accounts and wholesale channels within East London and the surrounding areas.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities by opening new customer accounts.
• Achieve monthly sales targets and key performance indicators.
• Increase product penetration by expanding product ranges and introducing new lines into stores.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with store owners, managers, and staff.
• Ensure excellent product visibility through effective merchandising, including gantries, displays, and promotional material.
• Monitor stock levels, place orders, and minimise out-of-stock situations.
• Conduct regular stock rotation to maintain product quality and availability.
• Execute in-store promotions, activations, and marketing campaigns.
• Monitor competitor activity and provide valuable market feedback.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant industry regulations.
• Accurately report daily sales activities using mobile sales applications and reporting tools.
• Drive brand awareness and "switch-selling" by educating store staff and consumers on the company's product range.
• Travel extensively throughout the territory, including approximately six overnight stays per month.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12).
• A valid driver's licence.
• Between 2 and 5 years of external sales experience, preferably within the FMCG, tobacco, or vape industries.
• A proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
• The ability to work independently while effectively managing a sales territory.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and mobile reporting applications.
