SETTER – INJECTION MOULDING

About Role:

We are looking for an experienced Setter to join a manufacturing environment in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, removal and connection of injection moulds on production machinery, ensuring mould changes are completed correctly while minimising machine downtime and maintaining production and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and remove injection moulds from production machines.

• Correctly position, centre and secure moulds using the correct clamps and tools.

• Connect mould water-cooling, hydraulic, core pull and ejector systems.

• Inspect moulds for damage, wear and defects before installation.

• Read and interpret technical drawings and mould specifications.

• Operate an overhead crane to safely transport and install moulds.

• Inspect and correctly use slings, chains, shackles and other lifting equipment.

• Check machine safety guards, emergency stops and other safety devices.

• Identify and report leaks, damaged connections and equipment defects.

• Clean and prepare moulds for storage or Toolroom maintenance.

• Report mould wear, damage and maintenance requirements.

• Follow all health and safety procedures and wear required PPE.

• Maintain good housekeeping in the moulding and mould-change areas.

• Ensure mould changes are completed safely and efficiently to minimise downtime.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.

• 2–3 years' experience in plastics manufacturing or injection moulding.

• Proven experience installing and removing injection moulds.

• Experience working with injection moulding machines and mould connections.

• Experience operating an overhead crane in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience using lifting equipment such as slings, chains and shackles.

• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and mould specifications.

• Strong understanding of production, quality and safety requirements.

• Good mechanical/technical aptitude.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

• Safety-conscious and able to work effectively under pressure.
