SUMMARY:
Our client an engineering company in Johannesburg is looking for a Qualified Electrician / Technician.

POSITION INFO:

Our client is a well-established manufacturer of electrical control gear and electronic control systems based in Johannesburg South. We are seeking a qualified, hands-on Electrical Technician/Electrician to lead our workshop team and provide technical support both in-house and at customer sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership skills, a solid technical background in control panels, and a passion for fault finding and problem solving.

Minimum Requirements

Qualified Electrician or Electrical Technician
Minimum 5 years'' relevant industry experience
Experience leading or supervising a technical team
Valid Code 08 driver''s license and own reliable transport
No criminal record or adverse ITC listings
Fluent in English and Afrikaans (read, write, and speak)
Well-presented with good communication skills
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Essential Skills

Experience in control panel building and wiring
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
Strong electrical fault-finding skills
Experience in testing and commissioning control panels
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Excellent organisational and leadership abilities

Advantageous Skills

AutoCAD experience (drawing and redlining electrical diagrams)
EPLAN experience
Electronic component-level troubleshooting
PLC programming and troubleshooting
Experience with VSDs, instrumentation and industrial control systems

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a workshop team of six technicians
Manage the day-to-day workflow and workshop operations
Update electrical drawings and redline modifications using AutoCAD and/or Eplan
Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels
Ring out, inspect, and complete testing documentation for manufactured control gear
Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customers
Commission equipment at customer sites
Attend customer breakdowns and service call-outs
Diagnose and resolve electrical and electronic faults
Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and to a high standard
Maintain quality standards and meet project deadlines
Assist with Tenders
