Production Technician

Are you passionate about contributing to global health and vaccine innovation? Afrigen Biologics is seeking a Production Technician to join the CMC (chemistry, manufacturing & control) team, creating, implementing and optimizing and processes in the CMC space to support the life cycle of vaccine, adjuvant formulation and therapeutic products.

The candidate should be comfortable working in a diverse, interdisciplinary team and being involved in multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the mRNA production (vaccine, R&D and cryogenic) facilities, following production operations instructions and assist with their strict implementation.
• Assist in production and storage of vaccines and other products according to the appropriate documentation to ensure required quality.
• Assist with any preparations ahead and during batch manufacturing and support scientists, engineers and other operating staff.
• Assist with facility documentation and inventories.
• Assist with CMC documentation and inventories.
• Assist CMC with scale up and technology transfer activities where needed.
• Assist with waste disposal planning, disposal inventory and waste management.

Qualifications and Experience:

• BSc Honours/ BTech/ Diploma in Biotechnology preferred.
• At least 2 years R&D/ Production experience in vaccines/biologicals manufacturing.
• Able to work independently and effectively within a team/s.
• Good critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with cGMP, knowledge of quality and regulatory compliance relevant to Biotech/Pharma industry.
• Excellent organisation and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and scientific reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
