Procurement Officer

SUMMARY:
Our client an engineering company operating in Johannesburg, looking for an Experienced Procurement Officer

POSITION INFO:

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for procurement, supplier coordination, and project support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials and information across multiple projects.

Minimum Requirements

• Professional and well presented
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing roles
• Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Experience using Sage Pastel or similar accounting software will be advantageous
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently
• No criminal record or adverse ITC listings
• Valid Code 08 driver''s licence and own reliable transport
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans (read, write and speak)

• Highly organised and detail-oriented 

Key Responsibilities

• Execute the full procurement cycle, including sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotations, raising purchase orders and processing orders
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules and supplier terms
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery, quality and service-related issues
• Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) aligned with project requirements
• Compile and distribute daily reports on late deliveries and long lead-time items
• Assist with supplier evaluations and the onboarding of new suppliers
• Coordinate daily collections and deliveries
• Prepare transport schedules and coordinate driver
• Arrange courier bookings, track shipments and ensure timely deliveries
• Assist with stock management for project materials and consumables
• Conduct monthly stock counts and investigate stock variances
• Ensure inventory records remain accurate and up to date
• Process supplier invoices accurately within Sage Pastel or similar accounting software
• Verify supplier documentation and reconcile purchase orders with invoices
• Maintain organised physical and electronic filing systems
• Prepare procurement and administrative reports as required 

General Office Support

• Assist with reception duties
• Provide general administrative support to management and the operations team
• Assist with project coordination and other ad hoc operational duties as required
