A well-established organisation operating within the commercial refrigeration, technical solutions and Food & Beverage environment is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Procurement Assistant to join its procurement team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious procurement professional who wants exposure to purchasing, strategic sourcing, supplier management, stock control and procurement administration while working closely with an experienced Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager. The role is designed for someone who enjoys taking ownership, working with suppliers and ensuring that the business has the right products, at the right price, at the right time.

POSITION INFO:

What You'll Be Responsible For

Manage and prepare purchase orders following final supplier negotiations and organisational requirements
Liaise directly with suppliers regarding pricing, product quality, deliveries and invoice queries
Conduct supplier reviews to evaluate service levels, pricing and overall supplier performance
Assess supplier quotations and tenders to support informed purchasing decisions
Research alternative suppliers and sourcing opportunities to improve availability and commercial competitiveness
Monitor market trends, supplier activity and competitor strategies to identify procurement opportunities
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and support initiatives aimed at reducing procurement expenditure
Maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring suppliers comply with agreed terms and requirements
Monitor stock requirements and coordinate purchasing activities to maintain continuity of supply
Proactively identify supply problems and communicate risks that could affect business operations
Manage procurement documentation, Goods Received Notes (GRNs), requisitions and relevant system transactions
Support stock movements, returns and warehouse-related procurement administration
Assist with new item and asset creation and maintain accurate procurement records
Monitor supplier B-BBEE compliance and ensure certificates remain valid in accordance with Group requirements
Work closely with Procurement, Warehouse, Technicians and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth purchasing and stock processes

What We're Looking For

Relevant Diploma or Degree in Business
1–3 years' experience within commercial purchasing, procurement administration or logistics
Knowledge of purchasing and sourcing principles
Understanding of stock control and inventory processes
Knowledge of B-BBEE, particularly the procurement element
Strong planning, organisational and time-management capabilities
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong supplier communication and relationship-management skills
Ability to negotiate, solve problems and work effectively with internal stakeholders
Strong administrative and document-control capabilities

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is organised, analytical, commercially aware and proactive — an individual who doesn't simply process purchase orders but understands how effective procurement contributes to cost control, stock availability and operational performance.
You'll need the confidence to communicate with suppliers and managers, the attention to detail to maintain accurate procurement records, and the determination to follow issues through to resolution. Strong negotiation, analytical thinking, decision-making and adaptability will set you apart.
