POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and manage the full payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all payroll processes.

Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead the payroll team, including supervision, performance management, and training
• Oversee the full payroll function for weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll cycles
• Ensure accurate processing of salaries and wages within agreed timelines
• Manage and administer payroll systems, specifically VIP and SAGE
• Review and approve payroll inputs including timesheets, allowances, deductions, and adjustments
• Ensure correct calculation and application of statutory deductions (PAYE, UIF, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with all relevant labour legislation and payroll regulations
• Interpret and apply bargaining council agreements and ensure adherence to sectoral determinations
• Monitor and manage labour rates, ensuring alignment with contracts and regulatory requirements
• Prepare, review, and submit detailed monthly payroll reports to management
• Analyse payroll data and provide insights on labour costs and trends
• Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain and improve payroll processes, controls, and systems
• Ensure all payroll records and documentation are accurately maintained and securely stored
• Liaise with internal departments (HR, Finance) and external stakeholders where required
• Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll information

Salary:

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a Payroll Manager or similar senior payroll role
• Extensive experience working with VIP and SAGE payroll systems
• Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation, labour laws, and bargaining council requirements
• Solid understanding of labour rate calculations and cost management
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
