OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

Our client within the construction industry is seeking to employ an operations director

MAIN OBJECTIVES

Strategic Direction

Evaluate current operations systems to identify areas of improvement

Provide forecast reports per project to ensure that the structure of the operations department is self-sustainable, efficient and profitable.

Accurate planning to determine the flow of work for future contracts, current projects and possible changes due to markets.

Liase with other departmental directors to discuss workflow and contract implications to manage cost, cash flow and budgets.

Manage operations budget to ensure efficient cash flow.

Increase profit margins on projects through effective contracts management.

Inspire workforce to behave according to the company’s vision and values

People Management

Management of senior team according to their KPI’

Ensure all senior team is adequately trained and developed

Ensure all employment ratios are profitable according to projects

Conduct recruitment interviews with assistance of the HR manager for all senior roles

Allocation of resources to various projects through workforce planning

Ensure staff retention in department

Project Management

Develop all project plans alongside operations manager and programs manager

Identify contractual limitations and restrictions regarding tender documents

Ensure effective and profitable project plan, program and sign off

Directing stakeholders to ensure smooth operations on site  

Manage progress by limiting delays and issues to ensure project efficiency through communicating with all departments. Ensure that adequate claims can be processed

Manage flow of onsite projects to ensure timely completion and final sign off with no penalties

Ensure that all projects maintain highest quality with limited reworks to be done

Reviewing reports on progress of projects as submitted by senior team

Risk Management  

Discuss and manage all project risks with the selected team

Ensure all projects are delivered according to client standards with highest emphasis on quality assurance

Ensure effective key accounts managements through client satisfaction and relationship building

Manage all projects risk timeously, identify in advance and ensure that action plan remains profitable

Maintain health and safety standards as per legal requirements

Ensure all other legal and compliance standards are maintained

Stakeholder Liaison  

Liaison between clients, suppliers and sub-contractors

Efficient collaboration between all departments

Client relationship building by ensuring client satisfaction through engagement with client representatives

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Matric

Degree in Building

MTech in Construction Management advantageous

Diploma in project management

SACPCMP registration- Project management

8-10 years’ experience as project manager

Smallest project to have worked- R15 million

Managed a total of 12 projects concurrently or total worth of minimum R90 million ranging to R150 million

Management of a minimum of team of 10 senior managers
