Merchant Growth Manager

SUMMARY:
We''re looking for a commercially driven Merchant Growth Manager to join a leading South African fintech business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on helping merchants increase revenue, adopt innovative payment solutions, and maximise business growth through strategic account management.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

• Proven experience in Sales, Customer Success, Business Development or Marketing.
• Experience within the FinTech industry is highly advantageous.
• Strong commercial and business acumen.
• Understanding of payment solutions and merchant services.
• Experience working with merchants within the Retail and/or Hospitality sectors.
• Good knowledge of the South African retail and business landscape.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Technical Skills

Experience working with CRM and reporting platforms such as:

• Zoho CRM
• QuickSights
• Campaign Management tools
• Microsoft Office

Key Responsibilities

Merchant Activation

• Take ownership of merchants following successful onboarding.
• Ensure payment channels, QR placements, POS, PED and eCommerce solutions are fully implemented and operational.
• Develop activation plans aligned to each merchant''s business objectives.
• Introduce relevant products, promotions and customer engagement tools.
• Convert suitable merchants from entry-level plans to premium engagement offerings.

Revenue Growth

• Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell payment and engagement solutions.
• Develop tailored growth strategies based on merchant performance, industry and seasonal trends.
• Reactivate dormant or underperforming merchant accounts.
• Drive increased customer acquisition, repeat business and transaction growth.

Strategic Account Management

• Build strong relationships with business owners, managers and operational teams.
• Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with key merchants.
• Analyse performance data and recommend growth initiatives.
• Act as the primary commercial contact for your portfolio.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with internal Sales, Marketing, Product and Operations teams.
• Support merchant campaigns, product adoption and regional activation initiatives.
• Provide market feedback to assist with product improvements and customer experience.

Reporting & CRM Management

• Maintain accurate merchant records within CRM systems.
• Track product adoption and merchant growth.
• Forecast account performance and identify churn risks.
• Produce regular performance and activity reports.

Location

Preference will be given to candidates residing in Johannesburg EAST
