Laboratory Administrator (12 Month Fixed Term Contract - Wits Health Consortium)

POSITION INFO:
Division : HIV Sero Molecular
 
Main purpose of the job:

• To effectively, timely and accurately perform a range of clerical and administrative duties in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures for the HIV Sero-Molecular Laboratory

• 1 Modderfontein Road, Sandringham, Johannesburg

• Receive samples as per referral list
• Centrifuge and separate samples according to protocol specifications
• Accurately input data into LIMS
• Label samples correctly
• Physically store samples according to the storage requirements detailed in SOP
• Ensure quality checks for samples are completed using requisition forms, specimen tubes and shipping lists/tracking logs
• Receive a list of samples for retrieval and shipping
• Remove, prepare, and distribute samples to testing laboratories
• Perform necessary quality checks to ensure retrieved samples are the correct samples as per list
• Keep workstations neat and tidy
• File requisition forms and related documentation as per study requirement
• Monitor laboratory consumables reagents, and any other administrative orders
• Capture orders for laboratory reagents, consumables or any other item using the electronic procurement software
• Receipt orders suing the procurement software
• Any other administrative duties required for the study
• Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-management
• Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
• Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback

• Grade 12 - Matric Certificate

• Minimum 1 years’ experience in Medical-related Laboratory and Administration

• Attention to detail
• Good time management skills
• Self motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Laboratory experience with handling of biohazardous specimens
• Computer literacy
• Good Laboratory Practice Certification (GLP)
