Independent Consultant

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Independent Consultant or Micro Loan Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing loan applications, conducting affordability assessments, assisting clients with suitable lending solutions, and ensuring that all lending activities comply with applicable legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive, process, and assess micro-loan applications.
- Conduct affordability assessments and verify applicants'''' financial information.
- Evaluate clients'''' creditworthiness and supporting documentation.
- Explain loan products, terms, interest rates, fees, and repayment obligations to clients.
- Ensure that all applications and lending decisions comply with company policies and applicable financial regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
- Conduct customer verification and required FICA documentation.
- Monitor loan repayments and follow up on outstanding accounts where required.
- Provide professional and ethical customer service.
- Identify and report any suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity.
- Maintain confidentiality of client and company information.
- Meet agreed sales, quality, and loan-processing targets.
- Keep up to date with regulatory and compliance requirements affecting the lending environment.

Minimum Requirements

- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- RE1 – Representative Examination: Long-Term/Short-Term Insurance or relevant applicable regulatory qualification.
- RE5 – Representative Examination: Representatives.
- Must be Fit and Proper in accordance with applicable FSCA regulatory requirements.
- Previous experience in micro-lending, credit, financial services, banking, or a related environment will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of credit assessment and affordability assessment.
- Good understanding of FICA and responsible lending principles.
- Computer literate, with good administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and numerical ability.
- Must be honest, reliable, professional, and able to maintain client confidentiality.

Advantageous

- Previous experience working for a micro-lender or financial services provider.
- Experience with loan origination or credit assessment systems.
- Knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA) and relevant financial services legislation.
- Previous experience dealing directly with clients and loan applications.
