Technician in packaging.

POSITION INFO:

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Junior Packaging Equipment Technician to join our Cape Town Technical Team. The successful candidate will support workshop operations while building strong mechanical and electrical competencies in a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in diagnosing faults and repairing packaging machinery (including heat sealers, tray sealers, vacuum, and skin pack machines)
Perform basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic repairs under supervision
Strip, clean, reassemble, and service machines and components
Replace worn or faulty parts and carry out preventative maintenance
Prepare equipment for repair, including cleaning, inspection, and documentation
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
Ensure proper use, care, and storage of tools and equipment
Assist with testing repaired machines to ensure functionality and performance standards are met
Identify required spare parts and support stock control and parts organisation
Assist with goods receiving and checking of components

Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12)

Technical qualification (N2/N3 or equivalent) will be advantageous
0–2 years’ technical or mechanical experience
Exposure to packaging equipment will be beneficial
Basic mechanical aptitude
Basic electrical understanding
Ability to use hand tools
