Junior Industrial Engineer (FMCG)

POSITION INFO:

JNR INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER

A position has arisen in our packaging manufacturing company based in Johannesburg for a young and dynamic Plant Engineer or Junior Industrial Engineer. The successful applicant will be responsible for the following: (amongst other duties)

Conduct time and motion studies, root cause analysis, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) tracking.
Prepare and present clear, data-driven recommendations to senior management regarding corrective actions and continuous improvement projects
Drive optimisation of planned changes (Mould changes/colour changes/Weight changes) through accurate data collection and implementation of improvement actions
Identify and recommend improvement areas to improve productivity (Improve machine efficiencies/ Improve cycle times / Reduce cost)
Champion energy efficiency for the division - reduction of electricity usage by daily tracking and recommendation of improvement areas
Champion all trial run requests in the division and reporting
Drive data-based decision making and recommendations
Monitor and evaluate production line performance, with a focus on identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and downtime within EBM operations
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to identify and validate improvement opportunities.
Research and propose practical engineering solutions to improve machine performance, process flow, and line throughput
Support the implementation of approved improvement projects and track their effectiveness over time
Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

BEng or BTech Industrial Engineering degree
0 - 2 Years engineering experience is required in a food manufacturing environment
An ability to communicate at all levels
Be familiar with food safety standards
An ability to negotiate effectively
A strong ability to think logically and rationally
Assertive and forthright
A strong financial and commercial aptitude
