SUMMARY:
The Junior Financial Manager will oversee all internal financial
administration, financial controls and accounting procedures
(including the review of external/junior resource's work), and
execute on the company’s overall financial strategy.

Hybrid working Model – blend of remote/telecommuting and
working from the office in Olivedale

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Experience & Qualifications:
- Articled accountant (i.e. completed SAICA articles, but did not complete board exams) or newly qualified CA(SA) (0 – 2 years post articles)
- 3 years’ experience in a similar role (unless newly qualified CA(SA)
- High proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software (advantageous)

BCom Accounting or similar (Chartered Accountancy preferred)
- Commercial Law degree/diploma or similar would be advantageous

End-to-end financial administration, financial controls and

accounting procedures:
- Monthly journals, ensure all items posted to the ledgers are accurate and complete, ensure the completion of GL  reconciliations and ultimately ensure that the trial balance is complete and accurate in all material aspects
- Billing and debt collection
- Develop, implement and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems and controls for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and petty cash
- Take responsibility to assess the reasonability of business
spend within the applicable policies and ensure that expenses are properly signed off and within budget
- Intercompany transactions, reconciliation of intercompany and related party balances, and consolidation
- Month-end closing procedures
- Reporting (including Management Accounts, monthly Management Reports and AFS)

Cash / Funds management:
- Ensure sign-off of payments in accordance with relevant mandates on behalf of the company, monitoring accurate information recorded on the payment
- Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs and available funds for investment
- Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements
- Maintain banking relationships
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts

Financial Analysis:
- Develop and deliver financial metrics that enable the management team to make effective strategic decisions, including scenario modelling as required
- Monthly analysis of margins, costs, new business growth,
divisional variances and recommend improvement
- Utilise financial management information to support and drive business growth and service excellence decisions
- Undertakes business unit performance analysis, interpret
the results to management and recommend improvement activities
- Create additional analyses and reports as requested by
management
- Working with team leaders and/or management to generate financial management systems that deliver relevant financial management information to support the business and teams
- Oversee the data quality in our core systems, tied to Management Information and drive the required improvements

Forecasting and budgeting process:
- In consultation with the GM: Finance, establish guidelines for budget preparation, co-ordinate and support the business units in compiling their respective divisional budgets and consolidate the annual budget
- Prepare and maintain 12-month rolling forecasts
- Drive and co-ordinate cost containment and savings with reverence to the budget
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure that all statutory submissions are done timely and
accurately, including Income Tax, VAT and Payroll submissions (i.e. EMP501, EMP201)
o Preparation of calculations
o Review of submissions
o Handling of all SARS queries/correspondence
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant IFRS, tax and other fields of expertise
- Keep updated with relevant legislation and regulations
- Ensure compliance to applicable company policies and procedures, legislation, accounting and tax requirements
- Facilitate regular and appropriate staff training on relevant policies, legislation and regulations
- B-BBEE Compliance
o Execution of the company's BEE strategy
o Capture and maintain all of the necessary BEE data and evidence to ensure the company is compliant
o BEE reporting on procurement and other scorecard issues
- Company Secretarial duties

Internal and external Audit:
- Plan and manage the annual external audit
- Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise the external auditors as necessary
- Prepare the annual financial statements
- Manage and facilitate any internal audits
