Junior Accountant - Gain Hands-On Exposure in a High-Performance Finance Team

POSITION INFO:

A well-established organisation within the construction and engineering sector is currently seeking a Junior Accountant to join its Shared Services finance function. This role is suited to a detail-driven accounting professional with a few years’ experience who is eager to gain exposure across multiple African operations in a structured and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be part of a finance team that supports regional entities, offering strong exposure to management reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and multi-currency accounting. Key responsibilities:

Preparation and posting of journal entries across multiple entities
Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, intercompany balances, and general ledger accounts
Assisting with the preparation of monthly management reporting packs
Supporting finance teams across regional African operations
Assisting with VAT, tax, and statutory compliance requirements
Providing support during internal and external audit processes
Ensuring adherence to internal financial controls and policies
Providing general accounting and administrative support within Shared Services

Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric)
Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Completion of SAICA or SAIPA articles will be an advantage

Experience:

2- 4 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role
Exposure to multi-entity or multi-currency environments will be beneficial
Experience with month-end processes and reconciliations
Familiarity with ERP systems (Buildsmart or similar advantageous)

Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of core accounting principles
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Advanced Excel proficiency
Good communication skills and ability to work across teams
Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow
