JUNIOR TECHNICAL WRITER to be based in Boskop, Potchefstroom

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and inquisitive Junior Technical Writer on a contract basis until August 2026, supporting the creation of high-quality technical content for advanced engineering systems.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the development of accurate, consistent, and accessible documentation tailored to specific end-users.

You’ll work closely with technical experts to translate complex information into clear, concise written materials by researching, organising, and presenting content effectively, while ensuring alignment with configuration management standards.

POSITION INFO:

THE MINIMUM NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE ARE:

BTech or BEng in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
At least 1 year of experience writing technical documentation for Plant Engineering
Advanced literacy in English with exceptional writing skills focused on clarity, conciseness, and accuracy
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex technical concepts and systems

Will count highly in your favour if you also have: Experience in configuration management

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

Technical Writing

Create clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.
Develop user manuals, operation guides, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Adhere to company documentation standards and style guides.
Ensure consistency in terminology and format across all documents.
Develop a solid understanding of the equipment and machinery being documented.

Research and Information Gathering

Conduct thorough research on equipment and machinery.
Collect and organise information from various sources, including engineers, product designers and existing documentation.

Illustrations and Diagrams

Collaborate with design teams to include technical illustrations and diagrams.
Create or edit visuals to enhance understanding of complex concepts.

Review and Editing

Review and revise documents for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
Proofread content for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with engineers and other stakeholders to gather and clarify technical information.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on documentation improvements.

Documentation Management

Maintain and update documentation in an organised manner.
Use document management systems to track changes and manage document versions.
