Job Description
The Automation Tester is responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications within the financial services sector. The role requires a strong focus on test automation frameworks, manual testing capabilities, and continuous integration tools.
The Automation Tester works closely with cross-functional teams to identify test requirements, report defects, and contribute to improving the overall testing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver with Java to validate software functionality and performance.
- Perform manual testing to complement automated tests, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective test cases.
- Manage test execution and defect reporting using Jira and Xray test management tools.
- Integrate automated tests into continuous integration pipelines using Bamboo or similar tools.
- Analyse test results and provide detailed reports on software quality, risks, and issues.
- Participate in regular sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings to support Agile delivery cycles.
- Contribute to improving test strategies, standards, and best practises within the team.
- Utilise JMeter or other performance testing tools to support non-functional testing activities where applicable.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of test cases, procedures, and results.
Required Qualifications
- ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation Level or higher).
- Proven experience of five or more years working with Selenium and Java for automation testing.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with test management and issue tracking tools such as Jira and Xray.
- Experience working in financial services, banking, or insurance sectors.
- Demonstrated ability in manual testing techniques and test case design.
- Familiarity with continuous integration tools, preferably Bamboo or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance testing using JMeter or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and working in Agile teams.
- Understanding of software development life cycles and DevOps practises.
Education
- Must have an ISTQB Certification
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred but not essential.
Experience
- Minimum of five years in an automation testing role, preferably within financial services or insurance industries.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality test automation solutions in complex environments.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong programming skills in Java for automation scripting.
- In-depth knowledge of Selenium WebDriver and test automation frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills to effectively liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
