Imports Clearing & Forwarding Controller

SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing client shipments end‑to‑end, liaising with shipping lines, airlines, customs, and transporters. Ensure shipments are cleared and delivered on time to avoid storage or demurrage costs, while maintaining high standards of service, integrity, and operational excellence.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Arrange and coordinate cargo collections in line with customer requirements.
• Secure bookings with airlines and shipping lines, ensuring compliance with inspection or fumigation requirements.
• Achieve and maintain 95%+ on‑time clearance and 100% on‑time delivery service levels.
• Ensure shipping documents are dispatched within specified timeframes.
• Resolve client queries within 48 hours, providing clear solutions.
• Maintain invoicing accuracy and timeliness, ensuring charges are requested and processed before delivery.
• Close shipment files within required timeframes and ensure completeness of documentation.
• Meet monthly and quarterly targets while maintaining service quality.
• Uphold customer satisfaction by proactively addressing issues and preventing complaints.

• Matric with Mathematics.
• Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Transport, or Supply Chain Management (or equivalent).
• 3–5 years’ experience in imports clearing and forwarding.

• Strong computer literacy and analytical ability.
• Negotiation, time management, and customer engagement skills.
• Knowledge of clearing, import, and customs procedures.
• Familiarity with shipping line and transporter processes.
• Ability to resolve disputes and manage settlements.
• Strategic, solution‑oriented mindset with strong interpersonal communication.
