SUMMARY:
Our client is looking for the ideal candidate to fill their Managerial position with recent experience in the steel industry.

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Qualifications:

  • Completed Grade 12
  • BCom or a relevant tertiary qualification

 Experience and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ working experience as Sales Manager in the steel or related industry, knowledge of steel plate, structural tube, speciality steel and automotive products
  • Experience in the Automotive steel industry will be an added advantage
  • Have strong management skills
  • Computer literate:
    • SAP knowledge is essential
    • MS Power Point
    • Ms Word
    • Ms Excel
  • Must have sound knowledge of inventory control
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must have the ability to negotiate at all levels within the customers organisation
  • Must be able to close deals daily
  • Must be a self-starter and able to effectively manage a sales team
  • Reside in or around Prospecton Durban area 
  • Reliable transport
  • Of sober habits
  • A stable work record and have contactable references

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and focus the sales team’s activities to achieve the projected/budgeted revenue targets for pre-defined market segments
  • Must manage stock and buyouts
  • Direct Management responsibility for the internal sales and inventory team
  • Develop methods to gain and report market intelligence related to defined segments
  • Setting and reviewing of sales budgets and forecasts
  • Develop a sound strategy to grow
  • Define KPI’s for sales team to translate strategy into action plans
  • Quarterly review of performance management system and KPI’s for team members
  • Create and develop plans for team members and initiate training of individuals as required
  • Maintain and manage the discipline of internal sales team
  • Assist with the improvement of SAP procedures and reporting to effectively manage customer pipelines (MRP)
  • Manage all related admin functions within the prescribed quality system to ensure maximum levels achieved during ISO/TS audits
  • Continuous customer interaction to build long term relationships, provide excellent service levels and ultimately grow our market share as well as to resolve customer complaints and address customer problems.
  • Timely notification to Management of issues that may impact the companies steel operations i.e., market conditions that may adversely affect the business such as financial issues, labour issues and competitor activity
  • Setting and maintaining adhoc pricing tactics in conjunction with sales teams along with the required controls to ensure that the prices are implemented and utilized effectively
  • Maintain and strengthen internal interaction within the various divisions in the companies group
